Mom and Dad's New Room

Dad went to a men's retreat this week. While he was gone, Mom redecorated their bedroom. She painted an accent wall and made curtains. Then, she rearranged all the furniture and hung a few new things on the wall. She had a blast and Dad was pleased with the final result. Us kids didn't get to help paint. We weren't very happy about that. But she did let us help make the bed (believe it or not, we LIKE to do that.)

The white spot on the green wall in this second photo is nothing more than a reflection from the mirror. But we thought it looked cool, so we didn't retake the photo.

All We Want For Christmas

Abigail and Scott have been losing their teeth. Abigail, especially, looked snaggle-toothed for a while. This was taken a few weeks ago. Her teeth are starting to grow back in, but she's still a little goofy looking. Beautiful even when she's goofy, though.

Scott has lost his two bottom middle teeth. He has trouble showing them off, but this was a pretty good shot.

Nothing much has happened this month, so we dug into the archives for a couple photos to share with you all. The first is a little out of focus, but you can still tell tha Abby is surrounded by fabulous Alaskan art. This was taken at Kenai Landing. If you check in last summer's posts, you'll probably find a couple other photos from there. Mom loved it, but us kids could get a little bored. It was like a primitive mall, and you couldn't run those long halls. She did let us run on the boardwalk outside though.

We're sure you recognize three of these characters - Chad, Ronald and Grimace. The fourth is Rascal, the mascot from the 2006 Arctic Winter Games. We didn't go to the games, but we did visit with these three at McDonald's one evening last year. Well, hope you enjoy the photos. We'll try to post something morerecent soon.

Valentines

On Friday the tenth, Mom and Dad went to a Sweetheart banquet. We got to go to the Woods' house for a few hours. We always have fun there. As you can see by the photo here, Abigail and Amy got into the Valentine spirit.

Scott learned that he loves Jambalaya - which is what they had for dinner. He probably loved it because it has shrimp in it, which is his favorite food right now.

And here's Mom and Dad at the banquet. They had a good time with their friends and they got to bring the balloons home. We still have a few on our ceiling.

Peninsula Winter Games

We went to the Peninsula Winter Games this weekend. There was a lot of fun stuff to do. We watched hockey games, figure skating, ice carving, dog weight pulls (kinda like the horse weight pulls in Potter County) and broom hockey. We rode on a sled pulled by a snowmachine, went on a sleigh ride, got to use kicksleds, iced cookies, made toy bobsleds, and had lunch.

In this photo, chad is doing the Frozen Salmon Toss. He threw it 15 feet. Not bad for a first time.

He also bowled on ice.

This is Abigail in front of the Finding Nemo sculpture. We really enjoy seeing the ice sculptures. This year, there was also Goofy playing hockey, Darth Vader, a pair of mountain goats, a sea lion catching a salmon, a shark eating flounder, two sculptures of seals swimming, and an abstract that we thought looked like a dragon with its head stuck in a jelly doughnut.

Shoot - this one is sideways. Maybe we'll fix it later. Right now we don't have time so you'll just have to look at it sideways. Sorry. Miss Linda at church gave us each a gingerbread house kit. This is the only one we've done so far.

This is us with our Christmas tree. We decorated it Hawaiian at the Christmas Eve party. A friend at church made our pajamas.
