Photos and Check It Out

Someone requested an upclose photo of Chad, so here they are - some self-portraits while he was goofing off with the camera last week.

Also, for anyone interested in watching the church building progress this summer, the church has its own blog now. www. jubileebaptistchurch.blogspot.com

Building Program

The building program has started at Jubilee Baptist Church. This month, the picnic shelter is going up. Brian designed it, and we are all excited to see it coming together. Here is a photo, from left to right of Robert Jones, Abigail Harley, Pastor Nick Bickish and Bill Wood, working on the trusses. Yes, Robert is teaching nine year old Abigail how to run the impact wrench.

And here she is doing her job. She seems to be enjoying herself. And before anyone panicks about Abigail growing up to be a carpenter, her daddy is hoping she ends up on a NASCAR pit crew.

This is what the shelter looked like when the crew finished on May 24, 2008. The trusses are together and ready to set, and the walls are ready for them. We're not sure yet when the trusses will go up. Soon, we hope.
Here are a couple photos from our trip to Seward a couple weeks ago. The Sea Life Center celebrated their tenth anniversary by offering free admission, including a behind the scenes tour and free dinner.

This photo is Abigail at the Sea Life kitchen. She was less than thrilled with the sushi that the animals there eat every day.

Outside, they had set up some games. This one was a race where the kids got to "rescue" an animal. Scott is driving the rescue "truck" here. The ocean is the pool in the background. They had a lot of fun.

Mom's finally getting some photos on here. We're not sure why this is the only picture from Spirit week at school. It was Mideval Day. There was also a Dr. Seuss Day, Patriotic Day, Formal Day and Sports Day.

It's the End of the Year

Well, the school year is over. The kids had an exciting last week, with final testing, pizza party, throw a pie in a senior's face and field day. They really enjoyed this past school year.

Last night was the Awards Program. Scott left with the first place for all the Field Day athletic categories for his age - standing jump, running jump, 50 yard dash and softball toss. He also received a trophy for being in the 5000's club. He got fifty 100's on tests this year. Only one girl got more than he did. He also received the music award for the Lower Learning Center -for being the most improved.

Abigail took second place for some of her athletic categories - second place for standing jump, second place for 50 yard dash. She also received a 2000's club. She got twenty 100's.

Chad did well in the field day, too. He received third place for softball toss, and first place for running jump, and third place for standing jump. He received a Bible Quiz'em certificate for winning the monthly quiz - twice. He also earned the National Physical Fitness Award "signed by the president." Chad got a 1000's club trophy for twelve 100's.

We will be homeschooling next year again. This should last for a couple years, and is only because we want to save that money for a house. Hopefully, by the time Chad is in ninth grade, they will be back at Wings. They will be participating in sports and music at Wings again next year.

Trip To Homer

On April 28, Scott and the other kids from the school who had earned Honor Roll in the third quarter got to go on a trip to Homer. Mom went with them.

Here are a couple photos of Scott enjoying the ocean. In the background of the first one, you can see a few of our group at the campfire.

In this photo, Scott is the only one we know. He was excited that he found a crab shell, a live crab and some shrimp with his friends. It was a fun trip.
